I photograph people because I like people.
I love the moment when someone forgets about the camera, relaxes and lets a little bit of themselves show. Whether I’m photographing a portrait, an event or telling a story on film, that’s what I’m looking for — something real.
I’ve been making photographs since I got my first camera at eleven. I went on to study Applied Photography at Sheridan College, learning my craft in the darkroom before photography moved into the digital world.
Photography has been a constant throughout my life, even when I’ve wandered down other paths. Now, based in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, I get to spend my time photographing people, events and stories — and I still love seeing what happens when I pick up a camera.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outside. I’m happiest in the forest, on a trail, or with my hands in the garden.
